Job Description

This position provides an opportunity to transition from private, public, government or military experience to a 3M career.

The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
  • Apply measurement science, mathematics, physics, and electronics to calibrate inspection, measurement, and test equipment (IM&TE) to ensure measurement accuracy.
  • Use metrology principles across Electrical/Electronic, Thermodynamic, Dimensional, Physical, and Mechanical disciplines.
  • Read and work to the indicated accuracy, specifications, and tolerances as detailed on calibration standards and procedures.
  • Diagnose calibration problems and perform corrective adjustments.
  • Set up, operate, and read precision instruments such as ammeters, voltmeters, oscilloscopes, balances, power supplies, thermometers, viscometers, scales, tachometers, microscopes, torque meters, and chart recorders.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area and contribute to overall shop cleanliness.
Your Skills And Expertise

Minimum requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED or higher.
  • At least 2 years calibration experience in a private, public, government, or military environment.
  • At least 1 year calibration experience operating to ISO 17025 or ISO 9001 standards.
  • Valid driver’s license and pass Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed include:

  • 2‑year college degree or higher.
  • Two years of recent calibration experience.
  • Professional training in Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory (PMEL) or equivalent.
  • Experience with metrology/calibration procedure writing and database administration.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to collaborate across functions.
Pay & Benefits

Starting rate of pay: $47.34 per hour. Compensation may vary based on qualifications and location.
