Summary- Developing, directing and leading the transmission‑division safety strategy to ensure a strong safety culture for all transmission division employees and contractors.
- Developing, directing and co‑leading the company‑wide human and operational success program based on the principles of human performance, with focus on maintaining a company learning culture, prevention of undesirable safety‑ and business‑related events, and the implementation of best practices.
- Developing, directing and co‑leading the company‑wide safety program and strategy to ensure a strong culture in support of GRE’s value of safety.
A typical starting range for this position is $152,000 - $217,000 + annually. We offer market competitive base pay and adjust our offer accordingly based on the value of the candidate’s knowledge, skills and experience. Responsibilities- Developing, directing and overseeing implementation of the transmission division safety strategy and programs aligned with company values to ensure a strong culture of safety.
- Ensuring compliance with safety policies, procedures, laws, OSHA regulations and other applicable regulations.
- Researching and evaluating best practices in industry safety and health issues, rules/regulations and technologies for implementation in the division safety programs.
- Developing, directing and co‑leading the company‑wide human and operational success program, my Experience, based on the principles of human performance, with the focus of maintaining a company learning culture and the prevention of undesirable safety‑ and business‑related events.
- Co‑leading the enterprise safety council, consisting of the company vice‑presidents who have safety‑sensitive employees within their organizations and additional cross‑divisional team members, which is responsible for company‑wide safety vision and strategy.
- Supervises, coaches and provides work direction and recognition to Transmission safety employees to maximize engagement, productivity and teamwork.
- Knowledge typically acquired through a bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, engineering, business or a closely related field.
- 10+ years’ experience with progressive responsibilities in a safety and/or electric utility industry position.
- At least 5 years of direct supervision/management experience is required.
- A relevant combination of field work experience and education will be considered.
- Demonstrated knowledge of occupational safety and health, change management, and human performance required.
- A graduate degree in occupational safety, engineering or related field is desirable.
- Certification as both a safety and human performance professional is preferred.
- Certification in behavior‑based safety is desirable.
- Knowledge of all appropriate electric utility safety and health regulations, including OSHA standards, DOT requirements, MN AWAIR Act, National Electric Safety Code, National Fire Code, and ANSI standards.
- Knowledge of safety codes and other standards that apply to the construction and maintenance of transmission lines, substations, HVDC converter stations, and distribution systems.
- Knowledge of Minnesota and North Dakota workers’ compensation programs.
- Skilled in leadership and the ability to effectively promote safety and health programs.
