Pay Range: $47/h- $61/h;
The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
We are seeking a Polymer Scientist or Chemical Engineer to apply polymer science expertise in the research, development, and optimization of polymer‑based materials and technologies. This role will focus on creating innovative, high‑performance, and manufacturable solutions for novel cardiovascular implants.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the design, development, and integration of next‑generation polymer technologies for cardiovascular devices.
- Conduct material characterization, testing, and analysis to evaluate performance.
- Develop and validate new test methods for novel product applications.
- Apply scientific and engineering principles to guide technical decisions across projects.
- Prototype and develop new concepts, processes, and testing approaches.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to achieve project objectives.
- Work cross‑functionally with process development, quality, manufacturing, regulatory, clinical, and marketing teams.
- Document findings and development activities through reports, memos, and change requests.
- Solve engineering challenges by analyzing issues and recommending solutions.
- Contribute both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
- 3+ years of engineering experience with a Bachelor’s degree OR 1+ years with a Master’s degree.
- Experience in new product development for implants or cardiovascular devices.
- Hands‑on expertise with medical device polymers and/or biomaterials.
- Background in analytical chemistry testing and data interpretation.
- Self‑starter with a hands‑on approach and ability to provide technical insights into product design.
- Experience in exploratory or early‑phase product development.
- Knowledge of adhesives, material coatings, and coating techniques.
- Ability to manage technical trade‑offs to optimize design, performance, manufacturability, cost, and reliability.
- Strong written and verbal communication, decision‑making, and critical thinking skills.
- Familiarity with medical device Product Development Planning (PDP) lifecycle processes.
- Flexible, solution‑focused mindset with strong problem‑solving skills.
