Materials Testing, Analysis, and Characterization (MTAC) Laboratory
This role provides advanced, non-routine polymer analytical testing support within the MTAC Laboratory, with a primary focus on polymer mechanical and rheological testing. The position partners closely with R&D engineers and scientists to generate high-quality data supporting product development, material characterization, and regulatory submissions.
Key Responsibilities- Perform polymer testing on finished products, raw materials, in-process materials, and other samples, primarily within mechanical and rheological testing areas, including but not limited to Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA), tensile testing, and rotational rheometry.
- Apply expertise in polymer sample preparation techniques and a variety of mechanical and analytical methods to support material testing and characterization.
- Conduct routine data analysis and ensure accuracy, completeness, and traceability of results.
- Review data, documentation, analyses, and reports generated by other analysts within similar testing areas.
- Cross-train and perform testing in additional laboratory areas as business needs require.
- Maintain rigorous documentation practices in support of laboratory testing and regulatory submission activities.
- Communicate test results and technical findings to internal stakeholders and project teams.
- Participate in team meetings and provide regular updates on testing progress, results, and timeline s.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation in collaboration with vendors.
- Support the implementation of new technologies and provide leadership in laboratory techniques and best practices.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to patient safety and product quality by adhering to the Quality Policy and all applicable quality system processes and procedures.
- Associate degree in Polymer Science, Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field (Bachelor's degree preferred).
- Hands-on experience with polymer mechanical and/or rheological testing techniques.
- Experience using TA Instruments equipment, specifically the RSA-G2 Dynamic Mechanical Analyzer and/or ARES-G2 Rheometer.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
