Overview
The YMCA is seeking a full-time dedicated Youth Development Coordinator with a passion for community engagement and youth development to support the Neighborhood Center in the Bottineau Ridge Neighborhood. You will assist in developing and executing program elements, curriculum and events around family support, academics (tutoring grades k-6) and learning, childcare, food security, fitness, recreation and more.
YMCA Neighborhood Centers provide youth and family services inside affordable housing complexes to meet families where they live to support basic needs and life skills development.
The hourly salary range of this position is at $18.00. We take into consideration an individual’s background and experience in determining salary; therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package for full-time includes a wide range of benefits (medical, dental, life, disability, and more) as well as generous paid time off and free membership.
As an added bonus, YMCA Neighborhood Center Staff may bring their own youth (ages 5–12 years) along with them!
Responsibilities- Oversee various program areas within the youth, teen, and family department.
- Assist Director in planning curriculum, and coordinating and promoting Youth, Teen and Family programming.
- Work hands-on in programs, activities and special events as needed.
- Provide quality customer service to members, volunteers and participants.
- Perform administrative duties which support the Youth, Teen and Family programs including but not limited to Sports.
- Assist with the implementation and delivery of department trainings and meeting coordination.
- In the absence of Director or Senior Coordinator, provide work direction to staff and volunteers and oversee daily operations.
This position reports to the Senior Program Coordinator (depending on program or branch) who reports to the Branch Executive or Community Program Director. The incumbent interacts regularly with members, staff, volunteers, and program participants. The position regularly deals with children, youth, teens and parents of program participants. The incumbent may provide work direction to staff and volunteers.
QualificationsRequired
- Minimum of 18 years of age
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience working within Youth, Teen, or Family programming or Beacons.
- Demonstrated ability to provide and role model quality customer service, and effectively evaluate other staff
- Must be self-directed and detail-oriented
- Demonstrated organizational and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations
- Basic computer skills
Preferred
- Multilingual
- If applicable, experience playing/coaching sports teams.
- Perform all physical aspects of the position, including being mobile, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds at a time.
- Ability to recognize and react calmly and effectively in hazardous/dangerous situations.
- Work environments range from quiet work areas to busy, noisy indoor and outdoor spaces with several groups talking amongst themselves concurrently.
- Must be able to actively participate in youth games/activities.
