About the Role

As a Purchasing & Estimating Coordinator, you will play a vital support role within our Purchasing and Estimating Department. You’ll gain firsthand exposure to how a production home builder operates, working closely with team members across departments to ensure timely and accurate bids, purchase orders, and construction documentation. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals pursuing a career in construction management, architecture, engineering, or business operations.

Overview
  • Start Date:

    Immediately
  • Part‑Time, Full‑Time, or Seasonal Paid Hourly
  • Starting Wage: $17‑20 an hour
Key Responsibilities Purchasing
  • Assist with the creation, management, and organization of purchase orders and vendor documentation
  • Communicate with vendors, trade partners, and internal teams to coordinate project needs
  • Assist with updating and maintaining key systems and software.
  • Support cost comparison analysis and provide recommendations to improve efficiency and reduce cost
  • Contribute to team meetings, project coordination, and other cross‑functional tasks as assigned
Estimating
  • Support the estimating team by collecting bids, maintaining budgets, and organizing historical cost data
  • Help review construction plans and specifications to ensure accurate material takeoffs and pricing
  • Assist in Project Analysis:
    Review project specifications, drawings, and other documents to understand the scope of work and project requirements.
  • Quantity Takeoffs:
    Perform quantity takeoffs using estimating software or manual methods to determine the quantities of materials, labor, and equipment needed for construction.
  • Cost Estimation:
    Assist in preparing cost estimates by researching material and labor costs, obtaining quotes from vendors and subcontractors, and analyzing historical data.
  • Bid Preparation:
    Support the bid preparation process by organizing bid documents, compiling subcontractor quotes, and assisting in the preparation of bid proposals.
  • Collaboration:

    Work closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and subcontractors to gather necessary information and ensure accurate estimates.
  • Documentation:
    Maintain accurate and organized records of estimates, contracts, and other relevant documents.
  • Learning and Development:
    Actively participate in training sessions and learning opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge of construction estimating practices.
Qualifications/Experience
  • Minimum of High School Diploma
  • Valid Driver's License

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Business, or related field.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills
  • Basic knowledge of construction materials and processes preferred
  • Proficient in spreadsheet management, performance analysis, research, financial projections, data aggregation, and report creation.
  • Skilled in computer systems, detail‑oriented data entry, and exceptional organization.
  • Self‑motivated, process‑oriented, and possesses strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, work amidst interruptions, and solve problems creatively.
  • Forward‑thinking, team player with confidence and a proactive attitude towards risk‑taking.
  • Strong knowledge of computer systems and applications
  • Professional and friendly verbal and written communication skills
