The Industrial Electrical Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of electrical systems and equipment within our food manufacturing facility. This position involves the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical components to support the continuous production of high-quality food products.
Key Responsibilities Installation and Maintenance- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, including wiring, conduit, electrical panels, motors, and control systems.
- Install and configure electrical components for new and existing production lines, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical systems to identify and address potential issues before they cause disruptions.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical malfunctions using advanced testing equipment and tools.
- Repair or replace faulty components such as wiring, switches, relays, and circuit breakers to restore system functionality.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to resolve complex electrical issues and implement long-term solutions to prevent recurrence.
- Program and maintain Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) to control automated machinery and processes.
- Troubleshoot and repair PLCs, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), and Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs).
- Optimize control systems to enhance production efficiency and product quality.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspection reports, and parts inventories.
- Ensure all electrical work complies with National Electrical Code (NEC), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations, and other relevant standards.
- Assist with the development and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for electrical maintenance tasks.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) to maintain a safe working environment.
- Conduct safety inspections and risk assessments to identify and mitigate electrical hazards.
- Provide training and support to production and maintenance staff on the safe operation and troubleshooting of electrical systems.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, including AC/DC motors, control circuits, and power distribution.
- Experience with PLC programming, troubleshooting, and repair (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, etc.).
- Familiarity with VFDs, HMIs, and other automation components.
- Skilled in using electrical testing equipment, such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and insulation testers.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required;
Associate's degree in Electrical Technology or a related field preferred. - Completion of a recognized electrical apprenticeship program or technical training.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Industrial Electrical Technician, preferably in a food manufacturing environment.
- Frequent Movement:
Regularly required to move around the facility to inspect equipment, supervise maintenance activities, and monitor the work environment. This includes walking, standing, and occasionally climbing ladders or stairs. - Manual Dexterity:
Frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle, operate, or feel tools and equipment. This may include tasks such as turning screws, operating machinery, and manipulating small components. - Lifting and Carrying:
Occasionally required to lift, move, and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds, including tools, equipment parts, and materials necessary for maintenance tasks. - Environmental Conditions:
Willingness to work in various environmental conditions, including exposure to high noise levels, hot and cold temperatures, wet or humid conditions, and occasional exposure to fumes, dust, or airborne particles. May also involve working in confined spaces or at heights. - Safety Awareness:
Constant vigilance to maintain personal safety and the safety of the team. This includes wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhering to all safety protocols and guidelines.
