Service Center Manager – Manteca, CA

Opportunity

We are seeking a Service Center Manager to lead and manage the operations of a facility, overseeing inbound and/or outbound freight delivery. You will ensure the terminal meets operational and revenue goals while maintaining maximum cost‑effectiveness and customer satisfaction. A key focus will be developing, engaging, and coaching a team of exceptional talent, ensuring they work safely and execute with excellence.

You will troubleshoot operational issues and partner with various departments to improve productivity, efficiency, and overall performance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Lead by example, emulating the behaviors expected of all employees.
  • Manage and coordinate facility operations to ensure continuous improvement and meet or exceed customer expectations for on‑time delivery.
  • Push for departmental results, identifying and addressing any issues with appropriate action plans.
  • Mentor, motivate, and coach a team to perform at their best while ensuring a safe work environment.
  • Assist with hiring the best‑qualified applicants and ensure compliance with company policies and regulations.
  • Review financial and operational reports, identify opportunities for profit growth, and recommend process improvements.
  • Prepare the facility budget and monitor monthly variance.
  • Collaborate with HR, Fleet Management, and Maintenance to address driver concerns, equipment issues, and safety matters.
  • Support sales efforts to meet quotas by maintaining strong relationships with customers and the customer care team.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by complying with company and government safety regulations.
  • Troubleshoot driver issues (e.g., accidents, log violations, equipment problems) and resolve operational conflicts effectively.
  • Partner with Fleet Management to ensure optimal fleet capacity in line with current and forecasted volumes.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Seven (7) years of relevant industry experience, with five (5) years of supervisory experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal skills, and demonstrated accountability. Thorough knowledge of LTL operations, policies, and applicable safety regulations.
Compensation
  • Salary: $85,000 – $100,000 annually, based on experience and location.
  • Classification:
    Exempt, subject to all applicable state and federal laws.

Work Environment

This is a full‑time, at‑will position. This is an onsite position, located at the posted terminal.

Physical Requirements
  • Frequent walking throughout the facility and between departments as part of daily operational tasks.
  • Occasional periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 20‑25 pounds.
