Summary
Responsible for preparing radioactive isotopes for administration to patients. Operates radioscopic equipment, such as scintillation detectors, to measure isotope concentrations and scanners to record visual representations of the isotope concentrations in specific body areas. Ensures all hospital mandated safety precautions are followed. Is accountable for all quality control and quality improvement activities within nuclear medicine. Ensures that all regulatory requirements are met and documented.
Produces appropriate reports for hospital and regulatory agencies. Ensures nuclear medicine equipment is kept in good repair. Notified Department Director of need for capital expenditures. Performs other duties as required.
LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS: Certification as a Radiologic Technology by the State of California. Registered by American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (Preferred). Certification as Nuclear Medicine Technician by the State of California and Healthcare Provider BLS.
EXPERIENCE: 2 – 3 YEARS
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:
EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS: Radioscopic equipment, scintillation detectors and scanners.
