Position: CA Dist Support Pharmacist FT

Position Summary

District Support Pharmacists (DSPs) play a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence within each pharmacy worked by acting as a role model for all, demonstrating our Heart At Work behaviors, and setting the bar for the pharmacy team.

Primary

Job Duties & Responsibilities Prescription Fulfillment and Inventory Management – 40%
  • Help support safe, accurate, and efficient prescription fulfillment by following WeCARE workflow procedures at every workstation.
  • Execute required QA procedures, including verification, DUR, and patient safety event recovery, and reporting obligations; prioritize urgent prescriptions while balancing home store and community work.
  • Proactively step into other workstations (pick‑up, drive‑thru, drop‑off, production) to support patients and workflow during each bench shift.
  • Ensure entire pharmacy team executes all inventory expectations: timely checking in and putting away of orders, cycle counts, returns to stock, Strong Pak, cold‑chain temperature logs, and controlled substance record‑keeping.
Customer Service, Patient Care and Immunizations – 20%
  • Position self at pick‑up and/or drive‑thru to actively ring out patients, provide counseling, offer immunizations, and deliver differentiated service when called by the digital workstation assignment board.
  • Engage with prescribers, insurance representatives, and patients to resolve barriers to care (prior authorization, formulary changes, copay concerns).
  • Answer the phone personally when best positioned; answer patient calls promptly and return missed calls in a timely manner.
  • Deliver counseling on pharmaceutical therapy and key elements of treatment, as directed by workflow and state regulations.
  • Offer relevant immunizations by appointment and when requested by walk‑ins; supervise tech immunize rs.
Pharmacy Team Leadership and Management – 20%
  • Assume responsibility for direct supervision, control, maintenance, and security of the pharmacy and management of the pharmacy team when acting as primary pharmacist‑on‑duty.
  • Quarterback the pharmacy team: align on top priorities, delegate work, monitor completion, and provide in‑the‑moment feedback and coaching.
  • Ensure our pharmacy team starts/ends shifts promptly, takes required meal and rest breaks, and is covered for any callout or no‑show.
  • Complete the end‑of‑shift checklist to provide feedback and insight to the next bench pharmacist.
  • Build a culture of safety, empowerment, and inclusion to make the pharmacy team feel valued.
Required Qualifications
  • Active Pharmacist License in the state of the District.
  • Not on the DEA Excluded Parties List.
  • Immunization Certification through an accredited organization (e.g., APhA).
  • Free of pending felony charges or convictions for controlled‑substance offenses.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm

    D).
  • 1–5 years of related experience.
Education
  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Pharm. D. degree required.
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm

    D) preferred.
Prior Relevant Work Experience
  • 1–5 years of related experience preferred.
Essential Qualifications and Functions
  • Active Pharmacist License where the store is located.
  • Active National Provider Identifier (NPI).
  • Ability to travel within a reasonable radius as business needs require.
  • Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
  • Ability to complete required training within the designated timeframe.
Physical Demands
  • Be mobile and remain upright for extended periods.
  • Lift items up to 20 lbs.; frequent lift up to 10 lbs.
  • Regular use of fingers, hands, and arms.
  • Stretch or reach overhead; move items between high and low positions.
  • Occasional precise machine adjustments.

Pay Range

Typical Pay Range: $65.00 – $81.00 per hour. The actual base salary offer will depend on experience, education, geography, and other factors. The position is eligible for a bonus, commission or short‑term incentive program in addition to the base pay.
