Credential Requirements

• Must hold a valid Multiple Subject Credential, PK‑3 Early Childhood Education (ECE) Specialist Instruction Credential, or verification of completion of credential requirements.
• Must meet at least one of the following:
  • At least 24 units in Early Childhood Education, or Childhood Development, or a combination of both.
  • Professional experience as a lead teacher in a classroom setting with preschool‑age children: 1.5 years of full‑day experience (8 h/day × 246 days) or 4 years of part‑day experience (4 h/day × 180 days).
  • Hold a Child Development Teacher Permit or higher.
  • Verification of employment that the teacher was assigned to teach TK students prior to July 1, 2015.

• Letter from Credential program currently enrolled (Required for all Pre‑interns)
• EL Authorization (must provide proof if it is not embedded in California Credential)
• Two current Letters of Recommendation (within the last 12 months)** – letters should be from current or former Principal, Assistant Principal, Department Chair, Program Director, or Supervisor. If you have not taught in California (new to the profession), please include a letter from your university program supervisor, master teacher, or practicum supervisor.
• CBEST (optional)
• Credential copy must show Subject Description, Expiration Date and EL Authorization.

• TB Clearance – Fingerprinting
• MUSD offers in‑house Teacher Induction Program at no cost.
• MUSD accepts up to twenty‑one (21) years of full‑time school years.
• There may be an out‑of‑pocket expense depending on the Medical plan.
