We are excited to invite a talented, full-time professional to join our thriving and successful project.

You will deliver person‑centred outcome focused evidence‑based interventions for children and young people experiencing mild mental health difficulties to support them to improve their emotional health and build resilience. This will include individual and group work.

You will assist with the running of our wellbeing workshops in hubs across Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire, providing guided self‑help, 1‑1 interventions, group sessions and facilitating peer support.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will work under the line management of the Service Lead and will play a key role in a diverse clinical team, contributing to the development, delivery, and ongoing innovation of the service. Responsibilities include delivering therapeutic interventions to children and young people both independently and as part of the wider practitioner team, and participating in school‑based wellbeing workshops as well as 1‑1 follow‑up clinics.

You will be confident and competent in engaging groups of young people, managing classroom dynamics, and adapting delivery to meet the varying needs and ages of participants. The role involves presenting accessible resources, facilitating peer support interventions, and using strengths‑based approaches such as the My Story method in group work and consultations. You will contribute creatively to promoting services across social media platforms, maintain confidential case notes and records using specified case management systems, and develop strong links with other agencies to support signposting and referrals.

Responsibilities also include proactively managing risk, responding to safeguarding and child protection concerns, producing high‑quality workshop and intervention materials, and maintaining timely, accurate documentation. Excellent communication skills are essential to engage effectively with children and young people, ensuring they feel heard and empowered, while fostering a respectful and positive environment.

Job responsibilities
  • Deliver therapeutic interventions to children and young people, working independently and with the wider practitioner team.
  • Join the Wellbeing Practitioner team in delivering school‑based wellbeing workshops and in delivering 1‑1 interventions in follow‑up clinics.
  • Be confident and competent in delivering workshops to classes of young people, including engaging a group, managing classroom dynamics effectively, and adapting delivery to meet the varying needs and ages of participants.
  • Present to groups of young people, introducing accessible resources and guidance.
  • Develop strengths‑based practice, utilising the My Story approach in group work and 1‑1 consultations.
  • Facilitate peer support interventions with and for children and young people.
  • Offer creative input and participation in promoting our services across social media platforms.
  • Maintain confidential case notes and records in a timely manner ensuring that they are stored securely using the specified case management systems.
  • Foster links with other agencies and services and have a good understanding of local services for signposting and onward referrals.
  • Positively manage risk and recognise and pro‑actively respond to child protection and safeguarding issues.
  • Complete high‑quality written notes in a timely manner using service databases.
  • Create high‑quality materials to use within wellbeing workshops and 1‑1 intervention clinics.
  • Communicate and engage with children and young people appropriate to individual needs.
  • Ensure young people feel listened to and have an opportunity to communicate autonomously.
  • Promote a mutually respectful working environment, nurturing a positive team culture.
  • Have experience of working with Children and Young People who have experienced challenges with their wellbeing.
  • Be comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Be experienced in working with children and young people and in engaging peers, professionals, and family members/carers.
