Job Description

Role Overview:

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their experienced team. You will be responsible for the design, development, and testing of electro‑mechanical products, ensuring the highest standards of quality and performance. This role also involves mentoring junior engineers, supporting production improvements, and contributing to ongoing product innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and test electro‑mechanical products
  • Prepare technical reports, product specifications, and documentation
  • Perform fault analysis and technical investigations
  • Supervise and support junior engineers
  • Implement design changes for cost reduction, obsolescence, and production improvements
  • Support verification activities, including environmental testing
  • Produce detailed drawings to BS 8888 standards and manage revisions
  • Create 3D designs using Solid Works and conduct design reviews

Required

Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a mechanical design engineer
  • Proficient in Solid Works (3D CAD)
  • Strong knowledge of common manufacturing processes (injection moulding, CNC milling)
  • Experience with project/task management and technical problem‑solving
  • Competent in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Strong time‑management skills and ability to lead multiple projects
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Experience interfacing with customers and suppliers

Desirable

Skills:

  • Solid Works PDM experience
  • MRP knowledge
  • Project leadership or management experience
  • Familiarity with IEC/MIL/DO‑160 standards
  • Experience with environmental testing for marine or aerospace applications
