Position: Teacher: Animal Care (2x full time, permanent positions commencing August 2026)
You will work within the Animal Care team, which is part of the Directorate of Health, Education & Service Industries. You will be responsible for the planning, delivery and assessment of learners engaged in Animal Care programmes.
The core role will be teaching on the level 3 curriculums either BTEC or T level (which may change with the reforms), however there may be some teaching on the lower level courses.
A full‑time teaching role has 828 delivery hours (pro rata for part‑time hours).

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have experience of working with a range of animals; hold a minimum of Level 4 Animal Care or Conservation or environmental studies related qualification and have previous experience delivering on Level 2 and Level 3 Animal Care or Management or Conservation/Environment Management qualifications.
Core Responsibilities
To design and deliver quality teaching/practical instruction using appropriate and effective methods to cater for the needs of all students.To liaise with learners and industry (e.g., farms) to ensure practical days are safely planned and managed on the day.To monitor and assess learner progress and provide prompt feedback to learners, and to comply with procedures for reporting and monitoring of individual learner’s attendance, retention, progress and achievement. Assess individual learner’s competence, behaviours, knowledge and understanding according to college and awarding body assessment criteria.To upskill and take up continuous professional development opportunities to improve practice and to maintain and develop technical competence within agreed subject areas.To ensure compliance with both legislative and college requirements for health and safety, safeguarding of students and ensuring safe systems of work are provided.To actively participate in the delivery and promotion of the college’s wider enrichment programme including social/sporting life and planning and implementing safe trips and visits.To assist with the development and maintenance of well‑planned academic resources.To actively commit to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all learners.To promote equal opportunities across all college operations.To work flexibly as directed by the line manager.Other Responsibilities
To uphold and promote college policies and procedures, promoting those specifically applicable to this area of work, including the Equality & Diversity and Health & Safety policies and procedures and attend training as requested.To comply with the college’s own safeguarding policy and practices and attend training as requested.To keep up to date, so far as necessary, for the efficient execution of the job, with new legislation, procedures and techniques and attend relevant mandatory training.To be conversant with and participate in activities and developments at college, regional and national level which are relevant to the post.To present and promote an appropriate public image in representing the college.To undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required commensurate with the post.#J-18808-Ljbffr
