Our client HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS) is an agency of the Ministry of Justice that provides administrative support for the legal system across England and Wales, ensuring justice works for everyone.
OverviewThis temporary court usher role is based in Mansfield and will be working at Nottingham Crown Court for the initial period until March 2026, with possible extension while a permanent usher is recruited.
Pay & Hours£12.21 per hour for the first 12 weeks, increasing to £12.95 per hour thereafter.
Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, 37 hours per week.
Responsibilities- Greeting members of the public.
- Liaising with judiciary, witnesses, jurors and other court users with professionalism.
- Basic admin duties, data entry, dealing with queries, preparing juror packs in preparation for trials.
- Walking jurors to and from court whilst remaining socially distanced.
- Preparation of court rooms.
- Providing support to all users of the courts, for whom it may be their first time.
- Filing.
- Post room duties.
- Good strong basic admin experience.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Ability to remain calm in potentially difficult situations.
- Ability to remain professional at all time and converse with a variety of court users.
- Excellent customer service skills.
Holiday pay, pension scheme and full training will be provided.
