Strassell's Machine/Hi-Point Firearms are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Machinist - Level II to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will possess advanced technical expertise in CNC machining, blueprint reading, and precision measurement. This role involves setting up, programming, and operating complex machinery to produce high-quality components in a fast-paced environment. The Machinist - Level II will work closely with engineering and production teams to ensure manufacturing processes meet strict quality standards and specifications.

Restrictions - We hold an FFL and Felons are not permitted for employment. Candidates with any felony conviction on their record, regardless of when it occurred, are ineligible for this position.

Duties Include:

  • Intermediate programming and editing on Haas controls for CNC Mills and Lathes
  • Intermediate programming and editing on Fanuc controls and Tsugami Swiss Lathes
  • Intermediate to Advanced operation of manual machine tools (lathes, mills, and grinders)
  • Advanced use of calipers, micrometers, and gauging to check parts for quality and accuracy
  • Ability to use an optical comparator to check part quality and accuracy
  • Troubleshooting Issues on Machines
  • Performing offsets and tool changes on CNC machines
  • Able to read and understand prints and setup sheets
  • Using various hand tools to prep raw components as needed
  • Help train entry level and level 1 operators and machinists
  • Help with part flow though the machine shop and understand assembly shop usage
  • Perform other related work and special projects as assigned

  • Work Hours:

    Monday to Friday, 7am - 5:30pm

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be willing to submit to a drug test and Background check free of Felonies
  • Must be able to lift 50lb
  • Effective communication including speaking, writing, and active listening
  • Being able to learn and take instruction well
  • Must have good attendance
  • Must have exceptional attention to detail
  • Able to sit and stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to stay on task and work safely at a standard work pace
  • Being a good team worker and positive attitude is essential

Skills

  • Extensive knowledge of CNC programming, including G-code and M-code for Fanuc controls
  • Strong understanding of blueprint reading, GD&T principles, and mechanical drawings
  • Proficiency with CAD/CAM software such as Fusion 360 and general CAD applications
  • Experience with electrical discharge machining (EDM) techniques (not required, but adds value).
  • Ability to operate CNC milling machines and CNC lathes efficiently
  • Skilled in using precision measurement tools like calipers, micrometers, bore gauges
  • Mechanical knowledge related to manufacturing processes including plastics injection molding and welding techniques
  • Basic math skills necessary for precise measurements and calculations in machining operations
  • Familiarity with tooling setup, fixture design, and tool management
  • Ability to work safely with hand tools, power tools, forklifts, and other manufacturing equipment
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles for process optimization
