Extended Learning Tutors - Spanish Immersion

Position Overview

There are Extended Learning Opportunity Tutor positions open for Spanish Immersion School for the  school year. The wage is $32.76/hour and is grant funded. The positions are non-renewable at the conclusion of the school year.

Tutoring for K-8 Spanish, Math, and Reading assistance only.

• Accredited college/university degree.
• Ohio teaching license.

• To help students advance and make up gaps in learning.
• Plans, directs and evaluates learning experiences for the students in conformity with school district policy, philosophy and procedures.
• Provides for the optimum educational growth of each student.

Building Administrator

• Utilizes tutoring techniques which capitalize on the student's learning strengths while remediating the weaknesses.
• Pre- and post-test to determine appropriate academic progress following Teacher(s) of Record lesson plans.
• Uses PBIS strategies which promote productive student behavior.
• Coordinate and monitor students involved in part-time or full-time academic or non-academic settings.
• Work and communicate cooperatively with direction from the teacher and school administrator.
• Maintain appropriate student records as determined by program/building administrator.
• Assist in review conferences and other conferences with parents, and others who are involved with the students.
• Maintains up to date student achievement records.
• Maintain confidentiality with regard to information about students.
• Interpret program goals and objectives to parents/guardians.
• Provides for all students the guidance and council which will promote their welfare and proper educational development.
• Maintain and access long-term and daily lesson‑Plans describing objectives and activities that directly relate to the Board adopted curriculum and the Teacher(s) of Record lesson plans for each student.
• Abide by the Mansfield City Board of Education policy manual, and building guidelines found in each building's faculty handbook.
• Perform other reasonably related duties as may be assigned by the building administrator.

• Exposure to the following conditions may range from remote to frequent based on circumstances and factors that may not be predictable.
• Potential for exposure to blood‑borne pathogens
• Interaction with agitated or upset individuals
• Interaction with disruptive or unruly students
• Exposure to student commotion
• Exposure to adverse weather conditions and seasonal temperature extremes
• Duties may include riding in a vehicle
• Duties may include telephone contact, paperwork and conferences with parents and/or guardians.
• Most work requires normal physical attributes associated with working in a school or office.

Each staff member shall remain free of any alcohol or non‑prescribed controlled substance and abuse of any prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District. Each staff member shall serve as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings. Each staff member has a moral responsibility to help instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values.
