Job Summary
Testing and interviews are tentatively scheduled the week of March 2‑6, 2026. The anticipated hire date for this posting is June 1, 2026.
Core MissionPerforms investigative and enforcement work according to the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Code (TABC). Duties include inspection, investigative, regulatory enforcement, training, and advisory services under general supervision with latitude for independent judgment.
Key Responsibilities- Enforce relevant provisions of the TABC, Texas Penal Code , and any applicable statutes; interpret and communicate state laws to the alcohol industry.
- Inspect licensed premises and investigate complaints of violations.
- Collect evidence, assess criminal or administrative liability.
- Conduct independent investigations of alleged violations on TABC‑licensed premises.
- Seize contraband, execute arrests, and coordinate with partner agencies.
- Prepare case files for prosecution, maintain secure case records.
- Assist in prosecution of alcohol‑related cases, document evidence, testify in court.
- Process initial license/permit applications and deliver training or instruction programs.
- Age ≥ 21 years.
- High‑school diploma or GED.
- Current Texas driver’s license.
- TCOLE peace‑officer license, or other approved law‑enforcement license.
- At least four years full‑time law‑enforcement experience, or bachelor’s degree, or four‑year military service, or a equivalent combination of law‑enforcement and military service, or degree that totals at least four years experience.
Graduate of an accredited four‑year program with coursework in criminal justice, criminology, police science, or a related discipline.
Physical & Practical Requirements- Must be able to move freely in a standard office, lift up to 20 lb and operate office equipment.
- Must perform repetitive keyboard use, communicate via phone, computer, and in‑person.
- Must be available for shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays as assigned.
- Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions and meet physical‑readiness standards (e.g., 80‑lb lift, sustained‑drive operation, vision requirements).
Entry level annual salary is $65,851 if less than four years of prior experience; $80,274 if ≥4 years. Pay grade is based on TABC’s schedule C and step‑numbers. Pay review will be performed annually with the full schedule.
