- Monday – Thursday: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
Supervises the daily activities of production personnel and provides key leadership to safety, quality, housekeeping and cost reduction while promoting positive employee relations within the production team. Monitors employee productivity by providing useful feedback and training. Sets employees performance goals that comply with the organization's plans and vision. Consistently and equitably enforces plant rules, holding crew members accountable for all facets of their jobs.
The Supervisor is held accountable to ensure production activities are carried out in compliance with all environmental, health, and safety requirements, compliance with legal and company policies, and procedures in a manner consistent with SGC Certain Teed LLC Principles of Conduct and Action.
- Directly supervises the hourly production employees on the safe and efficient operation of the production line equipment and processes. Will lead shift safety meetings to ensure compliance to all safety, environmental and health policies, procedures, and practices.
- Actively participate in the daily production meetings to remain informed and ensure that the operational activities are aligned with company goals.
- Maintain accurate production records, reports, and documentation for inventory, quality control, and regulatory compliance purposes.
- Serve as final decision-maker in the department when needed and in the absence of the Director of Operations/Plant Manager or other senior leaders.
- Communicate and document employee expectations and assess employee performance.
- Provide coaching and development opportunities and administer disciplinary action up to and including termination if needed. Will be required to assist in the evaluation and selection process of hiring hourly employees.
- Oversee the training of production employees to ensure they receive adequate training prior to operating any of the manufacturing equipment and that they follow the standard operating procedures and work instructions.
- Assist in performing root-cause analysis as well as implementing sustainable countermeasures on losses related to production.
- Maintain workplace organization to ensure good housekeeping (5S) by holding employees responsible for their assigned work areas.
- Review and approve employee time in the UKG timekeeping system and ensure employees are paid the correct hours and wages in accordance with the respective site's pay policies and procedures or collective bargaining agreements.
- May be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
- Investigate EH&S incidents—Injuries, Near Misses, First Aid, Environmental and Property/Equipment Damage. Conduct EHS and SMAT Audits to support the plant's EHS goals. Ensure adherence to Waste Management and Recycling responsibilities.
- Participate in the development, understanding and review of all position job safety assessments and standard operating procedures and participate in Incident & Near Miss Investigations to determine root cause and corrective actions.
- A bachelor's degree preferred (equivalent experience may be considered)
- A minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
- General understanding of ISO methodology (ISO 9001, 14001, & OHSAS 18001)
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, TPM, 5S & Six Sigma a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in use of MS Office (familiarity with UKG and SAP systems)
- Ability to analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution.
- The manufacturing plant is not temperature controlled; dust, fumes, and high noise areas >80db are present inside plant areas. Manufacturing processes involve granules, silica sand, fiberglass, asphalt coating, crushed rock, and polypropylene. Moving equipment such as forklifts, genie booms and industrial sweepers travel throughout the facility.
