Starting Salary: $92,400 – $138,700 Annually

Position Objective

Directs and coordinates activities of workers engaged in repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment, as well as the maintenance of buildings, grounds, and utility systems of a mill, industrial plant, or other establishment. Responsibilities include performing duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities
  • Coordinate activities of workers fabricating or modifying machines, tools, or equipment to manufacture new products or improve existing products.
  • Direct maintenance activities on utility systems to provide continuous supply of heat, steam, electric power, gas, and air required for operations.
  • Develop preventive maintenance programs and focus on best‑practice techniques to ensure reliability and continuous improvement.
  • Inspect operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.
  • Plan, develop, and implement new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and enhance the utilization of labor and materials.
  • Review new product plans and discuss equipment needs and modifications with design engineers.
  • Requisition tools, equipment, and supplies required for operations.
  • Direct training and indoctrination of workers to improve work performance and acquaint them with company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a working relationship with the union by following the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.
  • Consult with management, engineering, and quality control personnel to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment.
  • Manage department expenses to stay within budgetary guidelines.
  • Recommend and support capital projects from justification to timely, cost‑efficient execution.
  • Review job orders to determine work priorities and schedule repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operations.
  • Promote and support a safe and healthy working environment by eliminating hazards, training employees, and enhancing safety awareness.
  • Support the company’s Quality Management System.
  • Exceed customer requirements/expectations—this applies to quality, delivery, flexibility, and speed of implementation in all interactions.
Experience/Skills
  • Five to seven years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education.
  • Excellent problem‑solving, organizational and facilitation skills.
  • Project management experience.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks with a high awareness of deadlines.
  • Proven leadership and interpersonal skills.
Education
  • Two‑year certification from college or technical school.
