RESPONSIBILITIES/
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Teaching Assistants will serve as an instructor for CPR/First Aid skill sessions (HLTH 209/210), hold office hours and review sessions, and assist faculty within the Department of Health Science as needed. Students must commit to their Teaching Assistantship responsibilities for the full academic year at 20 hours per week and must be enrolled for a minimum of six (6) graduate credits per semester (500 or 600) level.
Up to three graduate students may be hired for this role.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstration of effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Students who have previously served as a GA in the Department of Health Science are eligible to apply again. Continuing students must have demonstrated satisfactory teaching ability and progress in their programs.
- Admitted to a Minnesota State University, Mankato graduate program by start date.
- Enrolled in a minimum of six (6) graduate credits per semester during assistantship, and in good academic standing.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Earned baccalaureate degree in a health-related discipline.
- Current CPR certification (American Red Cross preferred)
- Experience and/or Undergraduate coursework aligned with teaching responsibilities.
- Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) Credential.
- Preference will be given to applicants admitted to the MPH program in the Department of Health Science.
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
SALARY/STIPEND:Up to $10,000 plus tuition stipends,dependent upon availability of funds, period of appointment, and assignment. Appointments made after the tenth day of classes are not eligible for a tuition waiver.
RELATED INFORMATION:
Minnesota State System policy requires that graduate assistants must reside within the State of Minnesota for the duration of their appointment.

Contingent upon satisfactory performance and available funds, there is a possibility that this appointment may be continued beyond the initial period of employment. Graduate students must be enrolled for a minimum of six (6) graduate credits per semester (500 or 600) level.
