We care for 1,200 monuments and 23 historic house museums. We look after 660,000 street trees, and five million more in parks. Major Responsibilities
* Perform administrative tasks to support the Commissioner, Chief of Staff and the correspondence team.
* Assist with Commissioner's correspondence totaling over 15,000 incoming requests per year, which includes routing incoming correspondence to the appropriate divisions, following up and closing out correspondence in the tracking system.
* Perform data entry tasks on custom IQ database.
* Follow Agency customer service standards for answering and returning phone calls and interacting with park patrons.
* Manage confidential information.
* Assist with coordination of Agency ticket lotteries and distribution for special events.
* Represent the Agency at internal and external meetings and take appropriate follow-up actions.
* On behalf of the Commissioner and Chief of Staff, liaise with all NYC Parks divisions, other City Agencies and key Agency partners.
* Assist the Chief of Staff with special projects as needed.

Duration: 6 months
Fees:
Hired candidates will be subject to a processing fee of $85.00. Hired candidates who are not currently employed by the City will be subject to a $104.50 background check fee.

Minimum Qualifications
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
Preferred Skills
1. Bachelor's Degree.
2. Exceptional reading, writing and editing skills with attention to detail.
3. Knowledge of Agency structure, divisions and/or government operations.
4. Excellent supervisory, administrative and interpersonal skills.
5. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Residency Requirement
Residency in New York City, Nassau, Orange, Rockland, Suffolk, Putnam or Westchester counties required for employees with over two years of city service. New York City residency required within 90 days of hire for all other candidates.
