The New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) invests in a network of community-based organizations and programs to alleviate the effects of poverty and to provide opportunities for New Yorkers and communities to flourish.

Assist Facilities in the coverage of multiple locations via tracking requests submitted in the Service Now Portal system, including but not limited to rectifying facilities-related issues, troubleshooting copiers/other office machinery, and arranging table/chair set up in Agency meeting spaces. Serve as backup to mailroom staff by picking up and delivering mail to 2 Lafayette Street, 123 William Street, 59 Maiden Lane, and other locations.

Assist in the loading/unloading of the vehicle. Moving packages, assisting loaders and transporters by following safety guidelines for lifting and material handling. Assist the agency ATC in managing DYCD vehicles' utilization and daily maintenance. Monitor and maintain a track record of all agency-authorized drivers and ensure they comply. Schedule requests for use of a city vehicle from staff promptly using Service Now.

Perform routine safety checks of motor vehicle equipment and ensure vehicles are operational before driving. Responsible for the scheduling and maintenance of all the vehicles, including inspections. Investigate complaints as to vehicle operation and performance, and maintain any necessary cost and control records either as to vehicles and equipment or to goods and materials in the matter of their transport.

Initiate requisitions for needed automotive supplies, automotive servicing equipment, and work orders for the performance of major automotive repairs by City repair shop units or by outside contractors. Report all information to the AC of Administrative Services. Investigates all motor vehicle accidents and accidents to personnel, preparing required reports. Responsible for recording and processing all violations. Report all accidents and violations to the AC of Administrative Services.

Submit to DOT's ePermits system the request for agency vehicle permits annually. Maintain the proper records of all the above. Operate various types of vehicles and transport the Agency Commissioner and Senior Staff to scheduled meetings and events. Operates vehicles safely and efficiently. Adheres to the schedule when operating the vehicle. Ensure that all traffic laws are fully observed.

Minimum Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or

2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or

3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.

Preferred Skills

* Driver's License required - Proficient in Microsoft Office - Candidate must be able to lift 75lbs.

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
