Position: ADMINISTRATIVE COORDINATOR
The New York City Commission on Human Rights (CCHR) works every day to implement the city's Human Rights Law through enforcement, education, and outreach. The Commission seeks to address historic and contemporary inequities to cultivate a city where everyone can live, work, and thrive free from discrimination.

Through training, education, and policy initiatives, the Commission aims to root out discrimination. The Commission proactively identifies patterns of discrimination through testing employers, housing providers, and providers of public accommodation. The Commission also uses investigations, litigation, and other enforcement tools to address allegations of discrimination.

The Commission is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Administrative Coordinator to support the Community Relations Bureau (CRB) by performing administrative, programmatic, and procurement-related functions that advance the agency's mission. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Procurement & Contract Management

* Ensure all procurement processes are conducted in compliance with CCHR standards, City rules, and agency procedures.

* Work with CRB Management and Directors to create procurement requests on PTS and to verify accuracy, completeness, and compliance with requirements.

* Monitor and maintain availability of funds for procurement actions and contract obligations.

* Provide guidance and technical assistance to CRB staff on procurement policies, procedures, and problem-solving; proactively recommend alternatives and solutions.

* Update and maintain internal tracking systems and spreadsheets to monitor budget, procurement progress, and contract timelines.

Administrative & Analytical Support

* Draft analytical reports for CRB leadership, often under tight deadlines.

* Assist CRB staff with preparing, reviewing, and filing briefing materials for meetings and events.

* Respond to inquiries and correspondence received through CRB email inboxes, ensuring timely, accurate, and professional communication.

* Support CRB scheduling needs, including coordinating calendars, meetings, events and deadlines for staff and leadership.

* Provide regular support to Borough Offices to organize and conduct inventory count of swags and literature.

* Conduct regular literature and materials drop off to partner sites with the guidance of Borough Directors.

* Coordinate with Fordham University and any other similar partnerships renewal paperwork for continuing education as well as all the documentation needed for the monthly continuing education training to issues the certificates.

Program & Event Support

* Provide logistical and operational support for CRB events, meetings, and outreach activities, including planning, coordination, and follow-up. Where feasible, be the point of contact on day of event.

* Enter outreach and engagement data into the agency's Dynamics database to ensure accurate record-keeping and reporting. Maintain an updated outreach contact database.

* Assist with the implementation and tracking of CRB's outreach strategies and community engagement efforts and additional initiatives, as needed.

COMMUNITY COORDINATOR - 56058

Minimum Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or

2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or

3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.

Preferred Skills

* Proven experience in an administrative role.

- Excellent writing and communications skills.

- Must be well-organized, assertive, and able to work independently and collaboratively.

- Ability to adapt to rapidly changing requirements.

- High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Dynamics) - Ability to effectively prioritize, execute and follow-up in a timely manner, anticipating problems and roadblocks.

- Discretion in handling sensitive and confidential matters.

- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills - Familiarity with the NYCHRL.

- Fluency in a language other than English, preferably one common in New York City.

- Strong relationships with organizations and groups serving diverse communities in the City and experience working with some of the following people and communities: immigrants people of color people with limited English proficiency people living with HIV/AIDS. lesbian, gay, bisexual and/or transgender people people with disabilities people with accommodations issues related to pregnancy, disability or religion and people with criminal or arrest histories.
