Outside Sales, Business Development

Star Lumber & Supply Co., Inc. delivers confidence through our products and our people. We are seeking a results-oriented Outside Salesperson to join our Building Materials team. This role is responsible for managing existing accounts while working to develop new business across a range of construction projects. This role works closely with the inside sales team, working as a liaison between customers, sub-contractors and sales staff.

This self-starter will possess excellent communication and organization skills and the drive to achieve goals.

• Call on existing accounts to maintain relationships, sell and respond to customer needs.
• Continuous prospecting and developing new business accounts.
• Visit with contractors onsite to verify materials and provide assistance as needed.
• Review customer plans and complete material takeoffs.
• Execution of detailed monthly sales and gross profit goals.
• Maintain a high level of customer service through organization of tasks and responsibilities.
• Active participation in various new home builder and remodeling organizations.
• Build effective relationships with team members and key stakeholders.
• Monitor and maintain the status of projects through the building process.

• 2+ years of sales experience or account management experience.
• Demonstrated work in growing new business.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and design layouts.
• Ability to effectively communicate with a variety of customers, verbally and written.
• Ability to resolve conflict and manage difficult conversations.
• Knowledge of the new home building process and building materials.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Some evening and weekend work when required.

• Have worked with sales and profit goals in a commission based pay system.
• Experience with new home building, building materials and remodeling processes.
• Knowledge of Microsoft office, Bis Track and IOS applications.
