Position Purpose

Cashier role at The Home Depot involves providing customers with fast, friendly, accurate and safe service. They process Checkout and/or Return transactions, monitor and maintain the Self-Checkout area, and proactively seek product knowledge to assist customers and identify selling opportunities. They follow policies and procedures to minimize shrink. A Head Cashier may position Cashiers and support them by expediting price checks, approving Point of Sale transactions and markdowns for mainline registers, Self-Checkout, Returns, Pro Desk, Special Services, and Tool Rental.

They provide first level escalation for customer issues and assist in supervision, coaching and training of Front End Associates by participating in the training of new Cashiers and using available tools to coach and develop others. The preferred qualification for a Head Cashier is 1+ years of Cashier experience.

• Provide fast, friendly, accurate and safe service to customers at the point of sale.
• Process Checkout and/or Return transactions and monitor the Self-Checkout area.
• Seek product knowledge to offer information and identify selling opportunities.
• Follow all policies and procedures to minimize shrink.
• Assist Head Cashier by expediting price checks and approving POS transactions and markdowns for mainline registers, Self-Checkout, Returns, Pro Desk, Special Services, and Tool Rental.
• Provide first-level escalation for customer issues.
• Support supervision, coaching and training of other Front End Associates; participate in training of new Cashiers and coach using available tools.
• Preferred qualification for a Head Cashier: 1+ years of Cashier experience.
