Greenhouse Responsibilities:

• Help receive plant shipments
• Process plants and tag plants
• Maintain watering and plant maintenance in greenhouse
  • Keeping plants cleaned up in the greenhouse
    • Deadheading, cleaning up plant foliage
  • Looking for bug issues
  • Spacing and fungus control with plants
  • All watering tasks needed in the greenhouses
  • Understanding of water needs of plants
• Assist customers with flower, vegetable and herb questions
• Keep tables faced and presentable. Consolidate empty flats.
• Maintain greenhouse cleanliness at all times
  • Sweeping
  • Knocking down cobwebs
  • Weeding
  • Dusting pottery
  • Wiping down saucers and keeping sellable
• Making sure plants have proper signage, tags and correct pricing
• Keeping the potting bench cleaned up and organized and shelves around that corner
• Knowledge of annual flowers, vegetables, herbs, container and garden practices will greatly benefit this role and assisting customers with questions, ideas, combinations, how-to, help, upselling, etc
• Making sure plant tags from the register are staying organized and put away for quick retrieval
• Keeping boxes readily available for shopping customers
• North side of the store outside the greenhouses stay organized and picked up with curb appeal of the business
• Cutting weed barrier & coco liner off bulk rolls in that area for customers and register staff
• Spring cleaning the greenhouse to have it ready for plants after the off-season.
  • Washing down walls, sterilizing, vacuuming everywhere, dusting, setting up tables again and sign boards, cool cell wall maintenance
• Having a flexible schedule. Must be able to help the Greenhouse Manager with the Sunday watering in the greenhouse and additional Sunday watering needs out front.
• Reliable and responsible with shifts and plant care requirements
• Being able to tolerate the cold, heat, humidity, dirt, dust, wet areas and water everyday all day with the greenhouse conditions
• Assisting with Christmas tree sales and loading during the holiday season
• Being able to lift 50-75 lbs. would benefit this role with moving pottery or statuary
• Keep houseplants properly watered, cleaned, checking regularly for bugs
• Assisting with general maintenance tasks with the plants and perennial houses
• Cash register experience, handling money, answering phone may be necessary for store functions
• Assisting customers with plant questions and locating plant material requests
• Must be able to work Saturdays
• Must be able to work at least 2 hours within the 8-5 timeframe per shift.

Position is 20-40 hours per week depending on time of year and staffing needs.
