Key Job Duties and Responsibilities
The Housekeeping/Laundry Supervisor supervises the performance of housekeeping and laundry staff to ensure the cleanliness of the Community and the availability of clean laundry. Acts as a working supervisor filling in during employee’s days off, staffing shortage and ordering supplies.
The following is a general list of key job duties and responsibilities in your position. The list is not to be considered inclusive and you will be required to perform other duties/responsibilities as assigned by an authorized supervisor.
- Comply with the Community’s personnel, safety, and corporate policies and procedures.
- Report witnessed or reported allegations of resident abuse/neglect immediately to the Executive Director, RCC or Unit Manager. Treat residents, family members, visitors, and team members with respect and dignity.
- Maintain the confidentiality of all resident and family information.
- Report to work on time and as scheduled.
- Assure areas with carpeting are vacuumed and tile floors are swept and mopped on a regular basis; ensure tile floors are stripped and waxed per schedule.
- Assure resident rooms and bathrooms are cleaned on a routine basis.
- Assure all trash is emptied daily, including cigarette ashtrays.
- Assure all common areas are cleaned on a regular basis.
- Assure dining areas are cleaned after each meal.
- Assure miscellaneous items are cleaned on a regular basis, including light fixtures, vents, windows, blinds, handrails, pictures, and nursing equipment.
- Assure laundry (towels, linens, privacy curtains and personal clothing) is available, clean and in good condition.
- Assure laundry equipment is kept in good working order (lint disposed of and machines free of debris) and the laundry area is clean.
- Order housekeeping and laundry supplies and keep sufficient linen inventory available to staff.
- Assure personal and staff compliance to Residents’ Rights.
- Responsible for housekeeping and laundry departments.
- Assure compliance to all State and Federal regulations including blood borne pathogens, infection control, use of hazardous materials and fire safety.
- Maintain resident confidentiality at all times.
Job Duties /Physical Requirements

- Regular worksite attendance.
- Must have basic computer skills.
- If required to operate a motor vehicle for business purposes, must successfully complete the requirements contained in Company’s Motor Vehicles policy.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Must be able to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary.
- Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
- Must be able to perform the essential position functions of the job with, or without reasonable accommodation.
- Employee is required to use a transfer/gait belt or to obtain the assistance of another employee when attempting to assist residents when lifting or carrying objects in excess of 25 pounds.
- During the normal routine performance of the essential functions, some body movements may occur naturally, although they may not be a requirement of the job.
