Overview
Assistant Professor, Kansas State University, Geography and Geospatial Sciences Department. The appointed faculty member will complement and enhance the department's strengths and advance research on the analysis and modeling of dynamic geographic processes. The candidate will be encouraged to pursue interdisciplinary collaborations with spatial scientists and other scholars across the campus. The position will bolster Kansas State University's ability to address critical challenges related to the state's economy and environment, particularly in water security, water quality, and resilience.
It will foster interdisciplinary research bridging agriculture, engineering, and geospatial sciences to advance watershed science, precision water management, and sustainable use of natural resources. The position directly supports the priorities outlined in the Kansas Water Plan by promoting research that informs the effective management of vital water resources.
The Geography and Geospatial Sciences Department has a rich history, engaged alumni, and consistently ranks among the best performing social and biophysical science units at Kansas State University. Our faculty are accomplished instructors who actively publish their scholarship and secure extramural funding to support internationally recognized research programs. Our undergraduate and graduate students compete for prestigious national scholarships and awards from agencies including the National Science Foundation, NASA, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Department of Defense, Conference of Latin American Geography, American Association of Geographers, and American Geographical Society.
WorksiteDescription
This position is On-site. All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.
What You’ll Need to SucceedMinimum Qualifications
- Candidates should have completed a Ph.D. by the time of appointment and demonstrate the potential to develop a strong research program, including the pursuit of extramural research grants and collaborative research. Excellence in teaching and advising is expected.
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate within an interdisciplinary team and support a cooperative, professional work environment.
- Commitment to the University's land-grant mission and the K-State Next-Gen Strategic Plan.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship.
