We are seeking applicants for a 9-month tenure track assistant or tenured associate professor in Community College Leadership housed in the Educational Leadership department to begin August 2026. The Community College Leadership is a doctoral program only.

This position, along with all positions in the College of Education, is directly responsible for advancing this vision and that of the Department of Educational Leadership. The Department of Educational Leadership houses a K-12 leadership graduate program, the Adult Learning and Leadership graduate programs, and the Community College Leadership doctoral program, offered at a variety of locations throughout the United States and online.
WorksiteDescription
This position is hybrid eligible. The employee must be available to be on the Manhattan campus frequently during the work week for routine and scheduled meetings. Travel to and from the Manhattan campus would be at the employee's expense.
What You'll Need to SucceedMinimum Qualifications:
- Must hold an earned doctorate in community college leadership or a closely related field by the time of appointment.
- Demonstrated scholarly expertise in community college leadership as noted by publications.
- A strong and clearly defined research agenda that complements the strategic priorities of Kansas State University and its land-grant mission.
- Experience teaching graduate-level courses in both online (synchronous and asynchronous) and face-to-face environments.
- Ability and commitment to work collaboratively in group settings.
- A commitment to high-quality teaching, advising, and professional engagement with adult learner populations.
- Commitment to the doctoral program by advising doctoral students, serving on and chairing dissertations, and teaching doctoral courses.
- Eligibility for appointment to graduate faculty status or quickly able to do so with at least five peer‑reviewed publications in the past three years.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience developing and teaching qualitative or quantitative research methods courses.
- Experience recruiting graduate students for a degree program.
- Practical leadership experience in a community college setting.
- Evidence of external funding or strong potential to secure research support.
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching graduate courses in the Community College Leadership doctoral program, advising and mentoring doctoral students, gaining graduate faculty status from the Graduate School, and serving on and chairing doctoral committees.
