Regular Part-Time, Non-Exempt

$12 per hour

Actively hiring for Summer 2026

  • Ability to commit a minimum of 12hrs/week during the school year, with a preference of 15-20hrs/week.
  • Students are eligible to work up to 40 hours/week during the summer, based on departmental needs. Preference given to students eligible to work a minimum of 20hrs/week.

The Events Assistant - Student provides administrative support to ensure smooth execution of events that express gratitude and highlight the impact of K-State's philanthropic supporters.

A day in the life of an Events student could be:

Event Support

Assist with pre and post event set-up and tear down, deliveries, and other departmental errands. Manage and record attendee registrations via email and voicemail, prepare event attendee lists, merge and print nametags, place cards and create computer-generated reports. Provide on-site support for events during business hours and occasional nights and weekends.

General department support

Create and prepare donor and internal staff gifts and mailers. Oversee the inventory of event supplies, catering items and donor gifts, ensuring electronic records are consistently up to date. Provide general back-up and clerical assistance for the events team. Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in coursework at Kansas State University
  • Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word, Excel, Publisher, Outlook and Teams)
  • Demonstrates initiative and the ability to work independently, effectively managing tasks without constant supervision
  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail by completing tasks accurately and effectively manages time to consistently meet deadlines
  • Possesses strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, along with excellent customer service abilities and a proven ability to collaborate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Willingness to learn new industry related software/tools
  • A valid motor vehicle operator’s license and acceptable driving record
