Maintenance and Facilities Specialist

Who We're Looking For

Learn Academy is hiring a full-time Maintenance and Facilities Specialist! The Maintenance and Facilities Specialist is responsible for daily cleaning, deep cleaning, general maintenance including minor plumbing, minor painting, drywall repair, and other daily operational/maintenance tasks of the school or facility. The ideal candidate should have knowledge of wall, floor (tile and carpet), bathroom, and kitchen maintenance, as well as experience with general building upkeep including drywall repair, minor plumbing and handyperson skills.

They are expected to maintain a neat and clean appearance when on duty. They will also be expected to perform other reasonable requests.

Learn Academy, formerly known as Beach Cities Learning is an accredited non-public school dedicated to serving students who have faced challenges in traditional academic settings. Founded in 2009, our mission is to create a stimulating and supportive environment for students ages 5 to 22 who have found conventional schools less accommodating. LEARN Academy, a national leader in special education, academic intervention, and specialized behavioral services.

We use a structured program implemented in environments that facilitate functional independence and academic and social success.

• Ability to perform routine disinfecting/cleaning as well as experience providing basic facility/building maintenance including drywall repair, minor plumbing repair, painting, door/lock repair, fire inspection and fire inspection preparedness.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters.
• Ability to relate to a variety of persons.
• Experience with commercial and residential facility projects including events and event setup.
• Experience in managing the maintenance and cleaning of a facility.
• Must be able to lift 100 pounds.
• Frequent standing and prolonged movement.
• Must be able to assume and maintain a variety of postures (stoop, reach, stand, kneel, squat, sit, walk, lift, pull, grasp) for extended periods of time.

• Perform the assigned work schedule following approved custodial/maintenance job procedures.
• Project a positive image for the school with all employees, whenever the public, guests, or visitors are in the building.
• Maintain proper and neat storage areas for custodial/maintenance supplies and equipment in the area of the building assigned.
• Maintain building security by closing the building each school day.
• Maintain good sanitary conditions of building facilities.
• Cooperate with all groups, in a pleasant and courteous manner, that use the building after school hours.
• Report problems noted in the building to their supervisor.
• Must have knowledge of institutional cleaning procedures and basic maintenance.

Physical requirements vary and are based on specific student assignments. You may be asked to engage in any of the following: lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, stoop, reach, stand, kneel, squat, sit, walk, lift, pull, and grasp for extended periods of time.
