Alternating weeks of three shifts and four shifts; some weekend and holidays required
Performs hospital maintenance duties for the hospital including repairs, enhancements, special projects and maintenance to buildings and grounds. Performs lawn care and landscaping duties for hospital grounds. Assists staff with special projects involving room setups, moving office furniture, etc. Ensures emergency systems & equipment are operating at maximum performance always; assists in conducting fire drills, annual and monthly inspections of equipment, and other required emergency tests and drills.
Responsibilities- Locates and understands material safety and data sheets.
- Understands and complies with infection control procedures.
- Correctly uses safety devices and equipment including back support.
- Maintains and keeps tools or materials secure always and away from patients.
- Ability to isolate water supply for toilets, sinks, washing machine, each building.
- Repairs toilets, sinks or other water supply as needed.
- Silences fire alarm system in a timely manner. Resets fire alarm system as needed in a timely manner.
- Assists in quarterly fire drills & provides documentation for the safety department.
- Inspects fire extinguishers monthly & performs quarterly fire extinguisher inspections with outside vendors & maintains written records.
- Is knowledgeable about the operations of the fire system.
- Properly performs testing and documentation of equipment and systems.
- Correctly follows preventive maintenance schedule for all equipment as needed.
- Monitors & educates outside vendors performing repairs to the hospital about the need to keep tools and materials secure and under observation at all times in patient care areas.
- Performs repairs and replaces faulty equipment for the following: electrical, plumbing, faucets, light fixtures, ballasts, plugs, bulbs, ceilings, sheetrock, tile, wallpaper,
- Correctly disposes of hazardous waste and non-hazardous waste.
- Assists housekeeping as needed when jobs are complete by picking up and cleaning the area worked in.
- Moves office furniture and equipment as needed.
- Correctly paints walls, ceilings, doors and frames as needed.
- Performs routine maintenance and cleaning of HVAC system including changing filters, cleaning coils, and adjusting thermostats, cleaning intake/exhaust ducts and changing belts.
- Attends and participates in all required training. b) Responds appropriately and in a timely manner to all emergency codes.

High school diploma or GED preferred but not required. Technical education preferred but not required.
ExperienceGeneral experience in electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and air conditioning with experience in repairs and maintenance, preferred but not required.

HIPAADoes not have access to patient files or HID but should follow all HIPAA requirements and guidelines.
Work Demands/EnvironmentClimbing, ability to ascend or descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps using feet, legs, hands and arms. Body agility is important. Maintaining bodily equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery or erratically moving surfaces. Requires stooping, bending the spine at the waist, kneeling, bending at the knees, coming to rest on a single or both knees. Must be able to crawl, move about on hands, knees and feet.
Must be able to reach, extend hands and arms in any direction. Must be able to stand for sustained periods. Must be able to move about on foot to accomplish tasks walking long distances. Must be able to push and use upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust it forward, downward or outward. Must be able to use upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in sustained motion.
Must be able to lift raising objects from a lower to higher position. Must be able to move objects horizontally from position to position. Must be able to use fingers to pick, pinch, or otherwise work with the fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm as in handling; grasping, applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm;
