This job works in a collaborative model that includes psychiatrists, residents, psychologists, social workers, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, and staff who care for outpatient psychiatry clinic patients. This job falls under the supervision of the Medical Director, and there are collaborating physicians and approved supervising staff physicians. Together, the team works with a multidisciplinary group to provide high quality treatment for our patients.
The role is responsible for managing mental health and substance use conditions by obtaining patient history, performing assessments using interview, observation, and examination, formulating a diagnosis, developing and implementing treatment plans—including prescribing medication, and coordinating with additional healthcare providers to provide outstanding care that promotes positive patient outcomes.
This job may include telemedicine and/or in-person psychiatric consults in the Emergency Department and hospital units, and/or inpatient coverage. It may also include direct-to-consumer telemedicine visits when appropriate. The role participates in psychiatry staff meetings regularly and collaborates closely with a multidisciplinary team in maintaining a consistently high standard of care.

EducationRequired – Graduate of an accredited masters or doctorate program specializing in psychiatric nurse practitioner.
Work ExperienceRequired – Experience with ongoing clinical management of psychopharmacology.
Preferred – 3 years’ related working experience.
Certifications- Current License as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state of practice.
- Current board certification as Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) by the American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC).
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) / Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification from the American Heart Association.
- Current or eligible for Prescriptive Authority in the state of practice as outlined by the State Board of Nursing.
- Current or eligible for Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) Registration/Licensure.

- Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of required job information.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
- Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite) specific to role.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Working knowledge of Advanced Practice Provider policies and protocols at a department and campus/system level.
- Reliable transportation including the ability to travel throughout and between facilities.
- Competency documenting services using an electronic medical records system.
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours (weekends/holidays/nights/call).
- Utilizes the approved medical practices process in the delivery of all patient care.
