Job SummaryThe Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides professional nursing care for residents of all ages in long term care, under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician. Demonstrates knowledge of nursing principles for the resident in the relevant clinical setting, performs testing to evaluate resident status, administers medications or treatments as ordered, documents resident interactions and outcomes, and collaborates with interdisciplinary team members.
The LPN recognises problems, recommends solutions and responds effectively to assist in emergent situations. Responsibilities include ensuring resident health, comfort and safety; counseling residents, family members and advocates; developing self‑care programs; and performing other related duties as assigned.
- Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse;
Associate degree in practical nursing is preferred. - Graduated from a Board-approved AASPN program where IV therapy is part of the curriculum, or completed an IV Therapy course approved by the North Dakota Board of Nursing, if the position requires IV therapy/management skills.
- Completed a pre‑licensure nursing program that included supervised clinical experience across the life span or has a minimum of 400 hours of experience as an LPN at another facility.
- Currently holds an unencumbered LPN license with the State Nursing Board and/or possesses multi‑state licensure privileges. Holds required department‑specific competencies and certifications and completes annual continuing education units and competency training.
