Job SummaryThe Lead Medication Assistant organizes and assigns the resident assistants to ensure that residents’ plans of care are carried out and documented as directed. The position provides knowledge and delivery of appropriate age‑related care for the physical and psychological needs of adult and geriatric residents per plans of care. As an essential communication link with resident assistants, the role offers hands‑on care to residents and works with additional resources to plan and deliver care for all residents in their household.
The Lead Medication Assistant plays a key role in the resident admission process, orientation of new staff and students, and data collection on performance indicators. Tasks include administering prescribed medications, documenting outcomes, communicating changes in condition, and assisting with wellness and recreational programs.
Education: High school graduate or GED preferred.
Experience: Minimum six months as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA); prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long‑term care preferred.
Certification: Must hold a valid CNA certification. In addition, holders of state‑approved Certified Medication Aide/Assistant or Trained Medication Assistant certifications may be required depending on facility type (e.g., Medication Assistant I or II).

Education:
Minimum of 12 hours annual continuing education credits related to nursing or medication assistance.
Other Requirements: Valid driver’s license and auto insurance may be required. Must maintain all department‑specific certifications.
