This position provides thorough custodial and maintenance support to the Morton County Courthouse within the Buildings and Grounds Department. Duties are routine in nature and require a high degree of thoroughness, independence, initiative, and effective time management.
Responsibilities and Duties- Maintain and repair County facilities, equipment, and buildings by performing a variety of semi-skilled tasks including carpentry, electrical, painting, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical repairs.
- Perform minor plumbing repairs such as fixing sinks, toilets, faucets, and pipes.
- Operate small and large equipment including boom lifts, skid steer loaders, riding mowers, tractors with attachments.
- Operate and maintain mechanical tools and equipment including power saws, sanders, drills, air compressors, paint sprayers, sewer augers, and various hand tools.
- Perform custodial duties including dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing, stripping and waxing floors, shampooing carpets, and cleaning, disinfecting, deodorizing, and restocking restrooms.
- Perform landscaping duties such as planting, trimming, pruning, fertilizing, spraying pesticides, and installing or adjusting sprinkler systems.
- Conduct building inspections to identify maintenance needs and perform seasonal maintenance including winterization.
- Perform snow removal using vehicles, powered equipment, and hand tools.
- Set up and tear down meeting rooms, including tables, chairs, and equipment; assist with equipment and furniture relocation.
- Receive, prioritize, and complete work orders; communicate with supervisors and points of contact to ensure timely completion.
- Interact with visitors daily in a courteous and professional manner.
- Work as part of a team and independently as required.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, and County employees.
- Knowledge of custodial cleaning standards, cleaning agents, and procedures.
- Experience with tools and equipment used in custodial, maintenance, and repair work.
- Knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, welding, painting, and carpentry work.
- Ability to safely operate equipment, mechanical equipment, and power tools.
- Understanding of occupational hazards and applicable safety precautions.
- Ability to troubleshoot building maintenance issues and perform minor equipment repairs.
- Ability to read and understand instruction manuals, diagrams, and basic blueprints.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to follow verbal and written instructions and complete assignments independently.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize work, and manage time effectively.
