About the RoleThe client is seeking an experienced Senior Software Developer to join a collaborative, forward‑thinking engineering organisation. The successful candidate will work within multi‑disciplinary, full‑stack squads alongside product managers, designers, and fellow engineers. This is a hands‑on role covering the full software development lifecycle—from design and implementation to testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
The engineering environment embraces AI‑enabled development practices using tools such as Git Hub Copilot and ChatGPT to enhance delivery speed, quality, and innovation. Candidates excited about leveraging modern engineering and AI tooling will thrive here.
Key Responsibilities- Lead feature development and contribute to technical strategy within the team
- Collaborate closely with product and design teams to deliver high‑impact user features
- Write clean, maintainable code using Java, Type Script, JavaScript, AWS, and Vue.js
- Champion engineering best practices, including TDD, pairing, mob programming, and continuous delivery
- Embed security considerations throughout the development process
- Debug, optimise, and maintain a high‑performance codebase
- Stay informed about emerging engineering trends and bring fresh ideas
- Mentor colleagues and support capability growth across the team
- Proven experience as a software engineer with strong Java skills; experience with Type Script and JavaScript is advantageous
- Solid understanding of software architecture and design patterns
- Passion for agile development and delivering user value at pace
- Experience with end‑to‑end testing and Git‑based version control
- Comfortable using AI coding assistants to boost productivity
- Collaborative, open‑minded, and passionate about continuous improvement
- Hybrid working: two days in the Manchester office, with flexibility the rest of the week
