JOB TITLE: Senior Software Engineer (Fullstack)

SALARY: £72,702 - £80,780 per annum

LOCATION: Manchester

HOURS: Full-time - 35 hours per week

WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites.

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer with a track record of delivering high-quality work. As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll play a meaningful role in building the bank of the future.

• Design, develop, test, and deploy high quality software solutions that meet business needs

• Work closely with colleagues across disciplines to capture requirements, analyse technical feasibility, and translate them into engineering solutions

• Lead the development and implementation of complex frontend and backend applications

• Maintain high standards of code quality, architecture, and documentation

• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive, actionable feedback to peers

• Take ownership of debugging, root cause analysis, and resolution of production incidents

• Mentor and coach junior engineers, fostering a culture of engineering excellence, learning, and continuous improvement

• Extensive experience as a Senior Software Engineer or in a similar role

• Deep understanding of modern software engineering principles with experience building highly observable, scalable, and distributed systems

• Advanced proficiency in React
  , including:

  • State management using Context API and Redux

  • Microfront end architectures

  • Component design patterns and performance optimisation

  • Testing with Jest and React Testing Library

• Strong backend development experience with Node.js/Express
  , including:

  • Microservices architecture

  • Event driven systems

  • Pub/Sub or Kafka

  • API design and integration patterns

• Solid system design knowledge, including:

  • Caching strategies (e.g.,
    Redis
    )

  • Scalability, reliability, and performance considerations

• Hands on experience with cloud native architecture and containerisation (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker)

• Strong understanding of Agile principles and practices (Scrum, Jira)

• Thorough knowledge of software testing methodologies and best practices

• Excellent problem solving and analytical thinking skills

• Strong collaboration, communication, and relationship building abilities

• Awareness of emerging trends and technologies such as Generative AI

• Understanding of networking fundamentals across cloud and on premise environment
