You will be responsible for managing a high and complex caseload, delivering specialist and professional Welfare Benefit advice to L&Q tenants. The role offers a vital support service to L&Q tenants, aiming to improve financial situations, avoid poverty and help sustain tenancies.
Responsibilities- Assist customers with identifying and accessing any unclaimed welfare benefits, from entitlement assessment through to appeal stage.
- Carry out diagnostic interviews with tenants in a professional and empathetic manner, gather evidence and maintain accurate case management records.
- Work closely with internal teams and develop partnerships with the Local Authority, Community Support Services and DWP.
- Contribute to the team’s targets and goals by progressing casework effectively, ensuring timely resolutions for tenants.
- Undertake regular home visits on a weekly basis.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Welfare Benefit System, Welfare Reforms, Case Law and Procedures.
- Ability to analyse and investigate complex welfare benefit problems and seek appropriate solutions to maximise customer entitlement.
- Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to draft detailed Tribunal submissions.
- Clear communication of complex laws, regulations and policy information to customers and the wider organization.
- Strong understanding of poverty and social policy issues and its impact on service delivery.
- Full driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for Business Use.
- Enhanced DBS (Disclosure Barring Service) certificate required.
