School Caretaker

We are seeking a reliable and skilled School Caretaker to join a dedicated site team in the Manchester area
. This role is ideal for a proactive individual with a strong "can-do" attitude and a background in trades, ensuring a safe, clean, and well-maintained environment for students and staff.

• Pay Rate: £16.00 per hour.
• Hours: 40 hours per week.
• Shift Pattern: Rotating shifts (6:00 AM - 2:00 PM and 2:00 PM - 8:00 PM).
• Overtime: Optional weekend overtime available as required.
• Location: Various schools across the Greater Manchester area.

• Site Security: Responsibility for the opening and closing of school premises, ensuring all areas are secure.
• Maintenance & Repairs: Carrying out essential DIY tasks and minor repairs, including basic plumbing, joinery, and painting.
• Health & Safety: Performing regular site inspections, fire alarm testing, and ensuring walkways are clear and safe.
• Grounds Upkeep: General maintenance of outdoor areas, including litter picking and seasonal tasks (e.g., gritting during winter).
• Contractor Liaison: Assisting external contractors during site visits and ensuring works are completed safely.

• Trade Background: Previous experience in a trade (Joinery, Plumbing, or general Building Maintenance) is highly preferred.
• Vetting: A valid Enhanced DBS check is essential for this role.
• Driving Licence: A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are preferred due to early morning start times.
• Reliability: A punctual and dependable approach, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Communication: Good interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with school leadership, staff, and pupils.
