Trainee Fire Alarm Service Engineer

• Fire alarms, including installation, maintenance and repairs
• Fire extinguishers, including supply, installation and maintenance
• Emergency light replacements and testing
• Dry and wet riser testing and repairs
• Fire hydrant testing
• Bespoke fire safety training and fire risk assessments
• Fire door inspections

We are seeking an enthusiastic, hardworking individual who is keen to learn. The role itself includes and is not limited to:

• Assisting with the service of fire alarms to BS5839-1
• Assisting with the service and testing of emergency lighting systems to BS5266-1
• Replacing consumables where appropriate and make recommendations for remedial works when needed
• Carrying out repairs and/or replacement of devices on fire alarm systems, emergency lighting and other associated systems.
• Attend callouts for fire alarm systems and smoke control system faults. Then, using critical thinking, logic and problem-solving techniques provide solutions for our customers.
• Assist with the testing and maintenance of wet and dry risers and fire hydrants
• Assist with performing fire extinguisher servicing.

Essential skills:

• Permission and right to work in the UK
• Full UK driver's license
• Grade C/4/equivalent in GCSE mathematics and science
• Basic computer skills, including the use of emails and mobile app-based software
• Be punctual, reliable and flexible
• Conscientious and strong work ethic
• Have a flexible approach to working hours, in particular, starting and finishing times (due to the nature of the role)
• Be a team player
• Good attitude towards health and safety in the workplace
• Have a good aptitude for customer service and forming strong relationships with customers and staff
• Previous experience in a trade skill or experience in using hand and power tools
• Basic knowledge of electrical circuits/equipment and how they work

Full-time – 37.5 hours per week, usual working hours are Monday to Thursday 9-5 and Fridays 9-4, with an on-call rota for weekends
