About

The Role

Onward Repairs are Onward Homes in‑house contractor (DLO) and are one of the largest contractors in the area. We deliver a high‑quality flexible service to our customers ensuring our homes remain fit for the future.

We are recruiting a Trades Supervisor to cover repairs or voids across the Greater Manchester area providing all day‑to‑day repairs and vacant properties repairs of our customers.

As Trades Supervisor you will ensure that the standards of property maintenance services are delivered in line with our group’s key performance indicators. You will also ensure that standards are consistently met and all legal and statutory requirements are met whilst working in customer homes.

Suitable candidate will also carry out repairs when needed as part of this role.

A Full UK driving licence is required for this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Delivery:
    In line with Repairs specification or approved best practice, assess, coordinate and support the undertaking of the most cost‑effective repair solution delivering value for money. Organise materials, provide detailed information, effectively communicate with customers, other stakeholders and colleagues to deliver a high quality service, including carrying out repair work on site as required.
  • Customer Service:
    Provide excellent customer service whilst ensuring prompt work of the required standard.
  • Liaison and Technical Advice:
    Liaise with clients, customers and colleagues regarding access, safe working practices, and assessment of repairs requirements and progress of repairs.
  • Quality:
    Ensure that all work is delivered to a high standard. Follow up any customer complaints in a timely manner and in line with the organisation response time scales.
  • Records:
    Complete jobs on the computer system and maintain other records as required including adding/varying SORs, access details, materials used, job progression and follow on information.
  • Health and Safety:
    Ensure that all work activities are undertaken in line with all health and safety requirements, demonstrating a sound working knowledge of key legislative health and safety information and safe working practices. Carry out Site Safety Inspections and assist in the promotion of Health & Safety.
Essential Skills and Experience
  • Sound knowledge of building construction, components, building trades and applicable building regulations, including a trade background.
  • Experience of working in a customer‑focused service.
  • Proven ability to deliver a quality customer‑centred repairs service.
  • Experience of working in a target driven environment.
  • Sound knowledge of health and safety regulations, regulation and ACOPS relevant to the post and associated tasks undertaken within it, in line with HASAWA 1974.
Desirable
  • Supervisory experience and experience of working within a commercial and domestic property maintenance environment.
  • Experience of delivering services within the social housing sector.
  • Experience of using PDA technology (hand held/mobile working technology).
Qualification Essential
  • City and Guilds Craft Certificate within a trade discipline…
