Handyman – Permanent Full‑time – Waterside Plaza, Manchester
EQUANS is looking for a skilled Handyman to join our facility management team. The role is a full‑time, permanent position that requires a 40‑hour weekly schedule, flexible weekend work, and the ability to respond to all maintenance, reactive and planned tasks within the site.
Responsibilities- Carry out day‑to‑day maintenance and reactive tasks for all building and fabric assets.
- Serve as first‑call responder for leaks, blockages, and other urgent issues.
- Perform general maintenance tasks including replacement of lamps, ceiling tiles, and other plumbing and joinery work.
- Ensure all jobs are completed within SLA/KPI target times.
- Use PDA to update work orders and provide sufficient job details.
- Maintain a daily "find‑it‑fix‑it" regime – report findings to the helpdesk and ensure follow‑up within our service level agreement.
- Record statutory and planned maintenance duties (e.g., emergency lighting, fire alarm tests).
- Participate in emergency call‑outs and sub‑contractor management (inductions, RAMS reviews, permits, Safe Systems of Work).
- Manage a busy workload while maintaining high levels of service execution.
- Complete and maintain risk assessments for all tasks and ensure work is carried out within EQUANS Safe Systems of Work.
- Maintain a safe and tidy working area.
- Carry out installation work required for minor upgrade and adaptation projects.
- Safely operate all types of access equipment, hand and power tools in line with health and safety guidelines.
- Undertake training as required to keep skills current.
- Communicate effectively with site teams and management.
- Adopt and promote EQUANS Safety First culture and policy.
- Participate in building opening/closing duties when required.
- Undertake additional duties as needed.
- Previous experience in fabric and plumbing works – essential.
- CGG qualification or equivalent in joinery or plumbing services/maintenance.
- Strong technical knowledge of building services (boilers, heating, lighting, water management).
- Proactive attitude and ability to achieve the highest standards of operation.
- Good understanding of health and safety, including risk assessments, RAMS, and Safe Systems of Work.
