OverviewThe Security Engineer role sits within Enterprise Services and involves the installation and commissioning of a range of security systems. The engineer must understand various security products and their underlying theory, including CCTV, Access Control, and Intercom systems, and how they interface with other systems. A strong grasp of IP networking and its application to IP‑based security systems is required. Additionally, the engineer should be capable of structured cabling installation, as they may be involved in installing the network infrastructure for the security system or supporting other structured cabling needs across the business.

As a customer‑facing operative, the engineer is expected to provide a high level of customer service, clear and concise communication, and strict adherence to our health and safety standards. All engineers must follow company processes related to documentation and internal paperwork.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities- Installation and commissioning of Access Control and Intercom Systems.
- Maintenance and fault resolution for Access Control and Intercom Systems.
- Installation and commissioning of CCTV Systems.
- Maintenance and fault resolution for CCTV Systems.
- Installation and testing of Structured Cabling Systems.
- Interpreting proposal documents, schematics, and drawings.
- Accurate and timely completion of all work‑related documentation, including test results, commissioning information, drawings, and O&M documentation.
- Ensuring highest quality workmanship and clear, concise documentation at all times.
- Self‑auditing own work.
- Interfacing with other systems and subcontractors, such as Building Intelligence, Fire, Intruder Alarm services, and other life safety systems.
- Maintaining adherence to Sudlows health and safety standards.
- Assisting in additional areas of the business as required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Access Control and Intercom installation and commissioning.
- Demonstrated knowledge of CCTV installation and commissioning.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Structured Cabling Systems.
- Previously verifiable experience in the electronic securities sector.
- Understanding of interfacing requirements between Access Control systems and CCTV, Building Intelligence, and life safety systems.
- Knowledge of both open and closed protocol systems.
- Good working knowledge of IP networking and its relation to IP‑based security systems.
- Good knowledge of basic electrical principles such as measuring voltage and current drain.
- Good attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
- Good IT competence.
- Working knowledge of current and prevalent Access Control and CCTV standards.
- Flexible approach to working location and times.
- UK Driving Licence.
- CSCS / ECS Card.
- Industry recognised training and certification in Access Control systems.
- Industry recognised training or proven experience in the design of Access Control systems.
- Industry recognised training and certification in CCTV systems.
- Industry recognised training or proven experience in the design of CCTV systems.
- High technical understanding and proven experience in IP networking, including switching, routing, and wireless.
- Proven experience or training with other intelligent building technologies such as CCTV, Intelligent Lighting, HVAC, and Energy Management.
- Experience working to NACOSS NSI Gold Standards.
