About the ProjectSPRITE+ Deep Dive:
Extended Reality Convergence with other Emerging Technologies and the implications for Trust, Identity, Privacy, Safety, and Security (XRCET-TIPSS)
We are recruiting a Research Associate/Fellow to work on this one-year deep dive project on the future evolution of Extended Reality (XR) technologies and what this means for TIPSS risks and risk mitigation, focusing on how the convergence of XR with other emerging technologies (e.g., AI, neurotech) will transform and disrupt TIPSS in the next 5‑15 years.
About SPRITE+SPRITE+ is a UKRI-funded Network Plus led by the University of Manchester. It is a vehicle for collaboration, supporting engagement between people involved in research, practice, and policy relevant to Trust, Identity, Privacy and Security (TIPSS). Since its launch in late 2019, we have built an active community of over 1,000 members from academia, industry, government and third sector stakeholders, and recruited numerous project partners from industry, government, law enforcement and the third sector.
We have delivered over forty activities so far, including funded calls, community‑building meetings, workshops and conferences, showcase events and a programme of activities for early‑career researchers.
As the XRCET‑TIPSS research associate you will hone your skills in literature review and synthesis, impact generation, and communication with non‑academic audiences. You will work closely with the XR TIPSS Community of Interest Steering Group, the project team, and with RAs/RFs on the other three Deep Dive topics.
We welcome applications from scholars familiar with TIPSS issues associated with XR and/or other emerging technologies, from any disciplinary background, and with the ability to work across disciplines to build a holistic understanding of XRCET‑TIPSS issues. You will be supported by a multidisciplinary and cross‑sector project team and steering group.
