As a Systems Account Manager you will be responsible for a territory of varied accounts, managing them through a consultancy and partnering approach to design and deliver solutions that will benefit our customers. Accounts may require bespoke, cutting‑edge solutions or off‑the‑shelf solutions. Our Account Managers balance and manage a territory of well‑established accounts with a good installation base, with the expectation that they can grow accounts and the sales base.

Within a typical week, you will develop a pipeline, manage opportunities and provide forecasts to the management team. You will regularly meet with customers in person or virtually to explore avenues of partnering and introduce new technology. You will work closely with the marketing teams and the demo lab chemists. This activity requires strong account management, customer service and rapport building skills, and an ability to discuss a customer’s system requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Ensuring the health of your current territory – approaching new and existing customers, conducting customer visits, delivering workshops on customer sites, and providing technical advice to customers reviewing their system needs.
  • Reviewing and developing your pipeline on a weekly to monthly basis.
  • Assessing future pipeline – evaluating customers who are interested in working with Waters solutions and instrumentation; providing applications support to our demo chemists and facility in Manchester.

Travel throughout the territory of responsibility is required, offering flexibility in how you manage your accounts and work in the field. This position offers a great opportunity to build a successful sales record with the leading measurement company and to learn loads along the way. Multiple avenues to grow further in Waters exist both within this role and beyond, depending on your interests – possibly within systems sales, marketing, or in one of our more technical positions.

Qualifications
  • You may have worked in a lab previously or had a sales position – both are great for us in this role.
  • Knowledge or a qualification in a scientific discipline and experience with liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry would be useful.
  • A proactive individual committed to customer service and passionate about making processes more efficient and reliable.
  • Great problem‑solving skills to support customers in addressing system challenges.
