Apprentice Assistant Cook

Location: Holy Family Primary School, Salford

Working Hours: 20 hours, 9:30am-1:30pm (Monday to Friday), term time only

Contract Type: Fixed term (Approximately 2 years) until completion of Chef Production Standards

Citywide is Salford City Council’s catering service and provides school meals to most of Salford’s schools. Our service promotes healthy eating and delivers nutritious, tasty food and drink. We ensure pupils receive high‑quality meals, protect those who are nutritionally vulnerable, and encourage healthy eating behaviours.

• Prepare, cook and serve meals under the direction of the Cook Supervisor.
• Perform general kitchen duties such as cleaning, washing up, and storage.

Full training will be provided. The apprentice will complete a Level 2 Production Chef apprenticeship, a hygiene certificate and a Level 2 qualification in Maths and English (unless exempt). One day per week is required to attend Salford College.

• A DBS check is required. The cost (£49.50) will be deducted from your first four months’ salary at £12.38 per month. If you do not commence employment after processing, you will be invoiced for £49.50.
