Introduction
A Postdoctoral Research Associate (PDRA) position is available for an isotope geochemist to undertake research into the biogeochemistry of natural hydrogen. The post is funded by an industry award to The University of Manchester and is based in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences under Dr Rebecca Tyne and Prof Sophie Nixon.
ResponsibilitiesYou will use mass spectrometry to measure stable, clumped and/or noble gas isotopes and combine this with microbial community profiling using 16S rRNA and metagenomic sequencing. The project aims to characterise baselines for microbial communities and associated conditions in potential H2 generation environments and develop tools to guide exploration.
QualificationsYou should have a PhD in Geology, Earth Sciences or a related discipline, a publication track record commensurate with your academic experience, experience working with geological samples and a good understanding of the principles of isotope geochemistry and biogeochemistry.
Benefits- Outstanding pension scheme
