This is an exciting new role within Ward 3 at Manchester Royal Infirmary. You will work closely with the Ward managers, nurses, support and domestic staff to ensure a safe, clean and organised clinical environment.
You will take responsibility for ensuring that all medical equipment is clean and well maintained, maintain safe stock levels on the ward, assist with ensuring a safe and clean environment, order and provision of food and drink, and manage the patient experience tracker by obtaining feedback from patients and their families with the Friends and Family Test (FFT). You will also assist the team in continuous quality improvement work.
You will have an organised and positive approach, ensuring tasks are carried out in a timely, effective manner and maintaining the environmental database. You will cope well under pressure, utilising excellent communication and team skills.
The right candidate will:
- Use own initiative and work closely with a second housekeeper
- Be able to work as part of a team
- Work under indirect supervision
- Plan and prioritise time & workload
The post holder will work as an integral part of the team, responsible for the co‑ordination of services within the Ward area and work as part of the multi‑professional team, to ensure a clean, safe and comfortable environment.
The main elements of the role include catering responsibilities, cleaning, maintaining stores, minor maintenance of equipment and re‑stocking of areas together with other specified tasks as directed by the shift leader.
The post holder will be required to work closely with contractors, support services, monitor quality standards, report deficiencies, and take appropriate action. The post holder will ensure that the tidiness and appearance of the department is conducive to good patient care. Patients' privacy and dignity must always be respected.
